2010. It started so nice, with a slight breeze from the east. a great morning for the walk it was a pleasant uneventful walk from my residence to Ft George Park just a few blocks east. I had arrived early as I expected, Joann and crew were well underway doing all sorts of "setup" and I saw the MS Society President talking to some other person; perhaps about the state of the local chapter to some dignitary. I had a job to do, I was a man on a mission! I had collected a small amount of coin and had to drop that off. It is a pretty tough neighborhood I had to walk through ,on my way to this year's walk to find a cure.
This photo above is of the "In Memory Floaters" that we hope to avoid becoming members of to soon. At the moment all I can see is Ken Vandyke, Karen Morgan, Shela Watson and Jim Fowley as captain. Do you see others? Comment below. Start a Community of "In Memory Floaters" for your community if not in Prince George; I thought I saw others!
As I walked toward this day from my residence on 20th Avenue, I reflected on the people I would meet there this day and the people who no longer walked in their flesh. Prince George was deferentially the place to be if you happened to be in Northern British Columbia (perhaps in the Yukon?) Canada. Wow. PGTV sponsorship. City of Prince George. Was that Garth Frizzell I passed? Wow- He said Hi like he knows me. I saw him last at the Sea cadet Annual review last month too. He is the "assistant Mayor" in Mr Rodger's absence and I do I remember walking with Dan Rodgers, Prince George Mayor last year...:) This is a cool disease to have if you want contacts.
This is our team. We are known far and wide as "Joyce's Walkers and Rollers".Standing from left to right is Bill, Ken, Justin and Delilah. Rolling in front of us is Nadine, Joyce (Captain) and Jenifer. Missing is "Albert Barns". I personally have a Donation page, Feel free to donate all year round with my thanks... Our team page can be donated to as well. As soon as I find out if I can edit this page (I am not Captain) this picture here will have to suffice and it is linked to the page.
From September to May in 2009 I was Employed by "Affiliate Computer Services" in Prince George. They were under contract with T-Mobile Cell phones in the US as their Customer Service representatives. They employed a lot of people in Prince George, I worked there for a very short time.
I would roll into work, diligently and on time a few minutes early. I did my Job, negotiated the pearls of Nicotine withdrawal in a very pro tobacco atmosphere. I then went home to chill and forget "Hello, thank you for calling T-Mobile, My name is Ken, My rep ID is 21026. May we start with your ID please?" I noticed a few other employees but there were only a couple I could relate to in there. We were all robots in cubicals.
Apparently I was noticed by some other employees during that foggy time in the transient memory of Multiple Sclerosis. I had no idea that MS affected this community but I suppose it it affects every community so I put it up to a Duhhhhh Moment when someone steps out of the fog of community life and says "Hi" or "High" just out of the blue. Anyway one of the Supervisors from that job had recognized me from this community and I saw her registering for this event. Cool! I eventually walked with her and 2 ladies from Quesnel. The Prince George MS Walk was a success for the group due to that, I am sure those ladies went home with the plan of connecting to Prince George in the future. Thanks Maddy!
After the Walk We sat down to Coffee, Water, Yogurt, Fruit and Chocolate Milk provided by the Local chapter and BC Division as appetizers. After a comfortable wait, amid entertainment provided by "Spinning Angels Pole Fitness" Subway arrived with the food. One of my new found contacts from Quesnel was a vegetarian but there were no Veggie subs. She feasted on Yogurt and Chocolate Milk and networked well enjoying her time in the city.
Shortly after the walk, the weather turned cooler and it came time to head west and mozzy on home. I noticed flashing lights in the distance and wondered what was happening. It is a normal thing for Fire trucks, ambulance and Police to show up randomly in my neighborhood. Getting closer I saw it was the Fire Rescue truck outside my building! Great- I came home to use the bathroom! They will not let us in :( At least this time I had my walker for a seat.
