Excercise and MS

Multiple Sclerosis has a nasty habit of causing muscles to stiffen up and cause immobility in various extremities like the arms and legs. Sometimes, this stiffening (also known as “spasticity”) is very painful and the cause of sleepless nights which add to the problem of daytime fatigue and MS Severity.
Regular Exercise can help one become more flexible (combating Spasticity) , sleep better and have less fatigue during the day. For the person who is under loads of stress, exercise can help that too!
Humanity was never meant to sit still for extended periods. It has been proven that the best treatment for any condition is physical exercise!!!
In Prince George, MS Patients are welcome to join the MS Exercise class at noon on Wednesdays at the Rehab gym in UHNBC (aka PGRH). Each Wednesday, we perform an hour of stretching, yoga or other exercises geared to our conditions.
Our brains need exercise too! For those of us who suffer from cognitive problems, try exercising your brain with Sudoku or crossword puzzles. Brain Games found online are excellent for shaping up your grey matter and combating the cobwebs that form from cognitive difficulties.
